Jimmy Jib Control Box Powering Modifications

MAINS & 12 VOLT POWER MOD

Had a lovely modification done to my control box by electronics wiz Gordon Richardson to eliminate the chance of being caught out by faulty jib cells ever again while on location.

The new system comes in two parts. First, Gordon has made me a mains power supply that plugs straight into the 4-pin connector on the control box where the short battery cable would normally plug in. Second, he has fitted a new circuit board inside the control box and a 4-pin XLR panel mounted socket on the back of the box which enables me to plug in any 12 volt source that I like, whether it be a camera battery on a V-Lock plate or a block or car battery sitting on the jib base. Never again will I find myself short of jib battery power as there will always be V-Lock batteries available to borrow from the camera department if I get caught out. The best bit is that if ever I wanted to use the old Stanton battery boxes again, for whatever reason, they will still work exactly as before. The control box is obviously so much lighter without the battery unit underneath but the main thing for me is the peace of mind!
